moments of grace

have developed a big crush on just about everything in this shopbop editorial. i can't get enough of soft, feminine details for spring and this feature is full of them. particularly have fallen for the nude and black preen dress and baby blue high waisted phillip lim cropped pants.

nude and blushing

these ladies know how to welcome spring and it's in the form of lace, bows and ruffles in the lightest shades of pink and sandy nudes.  who else is ready to turn in their blacks and grays for something lovely and light?

{outfit post - something blue}

 {zara blue scarf, h&m ivory sweater (also seen here), zara leather skirt, hue tights, elizabeth and james margo bootiesmichael kors gold watchfree people ring, essie 'something borrowed & blue' nail polish}

i'm still not sold on this spring's color blocking trend. i love the look on others, but when i incorporate brights into an outfit i tend to pair them with something more muted and neutral. which is exactly what i did with two of my new zara purchases: a bright blue scarf and tan leather skirt. the cognac skirt is one of my favorite purchases of late. aside from being leather and the perfect color, it also has a cute paperbag waist, pockets and is crazy comfortable. what more could you ask for?

{get her look}

when i saw this shot of hanneli in milan, i immediately wanted to recreate the look. its the perfect transitional outfit and the cozy sweater and her tousled ponytail make it effortlessly chic. i suppose it doesn't hurt that she has legs that go on for miles either...

spring shopping list

spring

last fall i created a list of my must have purchases before i started shopping for the new season. while i don't think i'll ever curb my impulse purchasing, having a list definitely did help me cut down on buying pieces that i either didn't need or didn't have a long closet life. so this spring i'm taking a similar shopping approach and putting together a list of what additions my wardrobe really needs.

from top left, clockwise:
-equipment silk blouse - $190: a silk equipment blouse has long been on my wish list and i think a neutral color like this would be an outfit staple for this spring, and years to come.
-tibi chiffon maxi - $585: a pretty printed maxi will be perfect for summer weddings or just for everyday glamor.
-topshop linen blazer - $120: spring's somewhat fickle weather necessitates easy-breezy pieces like this blazer that you can throw over any outfit.
-madewell love letter clutch - $52: i love the oversized clutches all the it-girls have been toting around and this one from madewell is no exception.
-auri angie sandal - $180: i'm in need of a neutral shoe that goes with everything and this sandal seems to fit the bill.
-tibi bow front trench - $560: definitely not your classic trench, but the cut and bow are so sweet i'm not sure how i could ever tire of this jacket.
-mih marrakesh jeans - $190: last fall i bought a dark rinse pair of jeans, but this spring i'm looking for something a bit lighter and with a biiig flare.
-dvf linen wedges - $295: a pair of wedges is a must this spring and i can't resist the stacked wedge on this pair.
-style by marina maxi - $56: i want to add at least one piece to my closet in this pretty mint green hue, and this maxi might just be it!

what's on your shopping list this spring?

{outfit post - look, no tights!}

 {h&m pleated pink skirt, h&m nude sweater, zara brown belt, steve madden wooden platforms, michael kors watch, vintage bracelets, 'ruby woo' mac lipstick}

last week my mint painted toes came out from their winter hibernation and felt the fresh spring air for the first time this year! and what better outfit to welcome spring than this rosy pleated skirt. it's light and airy and blows in the spring breeze just perfectly. i love it paired with a comfy ivory sweater, but i can't wait to top it off next with something a bit edgier...  perhaps a leather jacket.

ps - i've recently created a facebook page and twitter account for a lovely escape so please click on over if it's how you prefer to stay in touch.

pps - i refuse to accept that the weather forecast is calling for snow later this week. no, it just can't be true!

yesterday the temps almost hit 70, i wore a skirt with no tights for the first time this year (!!) and i'm now convinced that the winter is officially over. i've got a bit of spring fever heading into this weekend! isn't it crazy how the weather can effect your mood?

here's to pulling out your spring trench, warm weather and a wonderful weekend - xoxo

moving on

this week the boy and i officially decided that we'll be moving out of our apartment come summer. and while i am not thrilled about the thought of packing up the apartment and going through my 6th move in 6 years, i am very excited to find that perfect place. some "hope to haves" in the new apartment:

-a buttery leather couch to replace our current white couch
-a kitchen with lots of counter space, hanging pots, open shelving and a touch of chalkboard paint
-a bedroom with space and french doors for a some fresh air (ok so the bedroom balcony might be pushing it just a tiny bit)
