i'm so happy to be home just in time for another summer weekend in chicago. lots of fun planned for the weekend. how about you?

red hot

never been one for red but suddenly i have an insatiable craving for a red skirt/dress/anything.

yesterday was the first day i had some time off work to wander around la. aside from finding a great pair of high-waisted shorts for $10 (90% off!) the highlights included a stop at joan's on third for lunch and catching a bit of sun at the standard (interesting crowd). 


i'm heading back to chicago tomorrow - and while the weathers been beautiful and the food delicious - i couldn't be more ready to get back to chicago and to my boys. 


ps - if we're friends on twitter you already know i've had a couple celeb sitings, including kevin connolly (eric) from entourage eating sushi with two girls and m.i.a. on set at our shoot.

from the prints above my bed to the various seating nooks in the lobby, i'm loving the decor in the palihouse holloway hotel which i'm calling home for the next couple days.


i remember seeing the polaroid art on a couple design blogs earlier this year and i was super excited to find it propped up behind the couch in my room upon arriving. i'd love to recreate something like it with the millions of instagrams i've taken on my phone.


ps - thanks everyone for the great la recommendations! it was a busy weekend but i'm hoping to have some time to explore the city a bit more over the next few days.

i'm completely smitten with everything in alexandra grecco's etsy shop. the cinema gown is the perfect mix of sexy and sweet and that little romper would be perfect for all the sticky summer weather we've been getting lately.

this weekend one of my longtime friends got married which gave me the chance to wear this long grecian inspired dress. i rarely wear my hair up, but one of my favorite parts of this dress was how it dipped so low in the back making a big soft bun the perfect accessory.

i'm a big fan of cover ups that serve other functions in your wardrobe aside from just beachside bikini toppers (first mentioned here). and i'm thinking if i can turn a loosely knitted sweater into a swimsuit cover up it just might justify a fall sweater purchase in the middle of 90 degree july heat...

this h&m white skirt is definitely a favorite of mine this season (first seen here and again here). and now that i have a little summer glow to pair it with i find myself liking it even more. i wore it all day saturday with this tied up tank - first shopping with flats and then slipped into these wedges for a dinner date out.
