i just spotted this photo on the sartorialist and i now have an urge to give my locks a chop...


i'll probably never work up the nerve (i was 5 the last time my hair was above my shoulders) but isn't her cut pretty perfect?

sunday night i had a few of my girlfriends over to watch the oscars. everyone brought a dish that related to a best picture nominee, including a chocolate pie (the help), galettes (midnight in paris and coconut shrimp (the descendants). aside from emma stone's adorable act and angelina's dramatic pose, i thought the show was a bit of a snooze. but it's always fun to judge the dresses on the red carpet while wearing sweats and ponytails.

these floral pants make me feel pretty fancy and super ready for spring. tested them out with a simple pairing - a chunky black sweater and my favorite black heels. but won't they be fun paired with pastels and other prints? yes, i think so.

this week was a whirlwind, which makes the weekend feel even sweeter than usual. i'll be hosting a little oscar's party sunday that i've been looking forward to for sometime. while there will be no gowns or updos, there will be plenty of good eats, champagne and some movie theater touches. will you be watching?

i picked up this aqua dress from h&m just a couple days before heading off to new york and wore it for my first day at the lincoln center and to a couple events. i love its lady like cut paired with more playful pieces like this oversized lucite necklace with a neon orange ribbon. a couple ladies asked about the necklace and it's fairly new so hopefully you can still snag one at h&m if you hurry.

pretty pastels

there's been a hint of spring in the air the last couple days, and while i'm not fooling myself into thinking we don't have a couple frigid days and a snowstorm left this winter, it makes it impossible not to pull out all the pretty spring pieces i've been stockpiling. so this weekend i'll be easing into warmer weather wear by pairing soft sherbet hues in breezy fabrics and ankle grazing pants with knits and charcoals. and when that warmer weather hits i can't wait to create some rainbow sherbet hued outfits.

it seems that this tribal printed blazer pairs with just about every color i can find. here i highlighted the aqua and berry tones with a clutch and shoes. but i've also tried it with red, olive and purple - and magically, it works.

i spent last weekend in ny with two of my closest friends - who both have a unique and lovely style. the first photos here are of my friend sheena. i've never seen someone who budget shops better than this girl and she has a lovely little blog that documents her very accessible style  disregard the borrowed chanel in these photos :) 

the second set of photos are of my friend jenn. aside from being one of the wittiest girls i know and an incredible cook, she also has a very sweet style usually accented with a touch of preppiness. she's wearing this neon yellow blazer of mine but has made it much more her style with the bright blue trousers and neutral tee/accessories.
