summer

i love memorial day weekend as it feels like the launching point for summer. and while summer in chicago is incredibly fun, it often flies by a bit too fast. so here are 10 things i plan on tackling before summer has come and gone.

1. take a spontaneous trip
2. host an ice cream party (and make this among others)
3. take a sailing lesson
4. take more warm evening walks with walter
5. go on a hike 
6. buy a new pair of sunglasses (since i sadly just lost these)
7. take an outdoor yoga class
8. go to a music festival
9. print out the hundreds of instagrams on my phone
10. do most of our grocery shopping at the farmer's market

sorry for the unexpected break but i unplugged a bit while away for work in brussels and it was quite nice. seeing and experiencing new things has a way of putting things in perspective and i've come back with a bit of a fresh outlook. these are a couple of my favorite moments, and in case you want to take a listen, a video of the musicians above that provided such a memorable way to enjoy a sunset.

have had a lovely yet sleepless week in belgium. its a charming city with the sweetest people, the absolute best beer and has reminded me just how much i love being in europe.

love the color of this pleated maxi skirt. i don't have a thing in this tangerine hue and its been fun pairing it with unexpected color combos like army green and aqua blue.

i'm off to belgium tomorrow. it's been a couple years since i've been to europe and even though its a work trip, i'm excited to explore the cobblestoned streets of brussles and indulge in some belgium chocolate and most of all... beer.

homemade glazed cinnamon donuts by b

my boyfriend's brother made these delicious glazed cinnamon donut bites for easter brunch and they were absolute perfection. if you've never had a warm homemade donut you are wildly missing out. this recipe is similar except we added cinnamon to the dough and substituted milk for water in the glaze.
